The Elemental Blade

This is a rather intresting Thread item I cooked up. Enjoy.

Key Knowledge:
The Elemental blade was forged long ago, and wielded by many different heroes. The Blade is said to be made of six different pieces. The actual blade, and five elemental coins. While I'll let the GM decide the exact location of the coin I will tell what generall area they are in. Getting to these area's could be a legend to themselves. The Fire coin is located in Death's Sea(That one ought'ta be fun.). The water coin is located in the Serpent River, approximately the middle of the part of the river it's found in. The Earth coin is to be found somewhere in the Badlands for those brave enough to venture into them. And the Air coin is found high in the sky above the Scytha Mountains. The Fifth and final coin, the oriachulum coin, does not even exist until all four of the other coins have been placed in the Elemental Blade. When the Oriachulum coin comes into existence it can be found somewhere in the Twilight Peaks. The Blade itself is a knife with four holes big enough for a coin in the handle.
The Wielder must know about one of the coins.
Deed:A character must find and retrieve one of the coins, and put it in one of the slots in the handle. The Deed is worth 400 Legend Points.
Effect:The one who has woven a thread to the Elemental Blade can lengthen the knife to a Dagger at will. The Dagger can also be shortened back to a knife at will. If the Elemental Blade leaves the owner's possesion, or is used by someone else, it will automatically shorten to a knife.

Key Knowledge:
When a coin is placed in the blade, a locking magic occurs, and the coin effectively becomes part of the blade.
The wielder must know of another one of the coins, and the name of the magician who originally created the blade.
Deed:A character must find and retrieve one of the coins, and put it in one of the slots in the handle. The Deed is worth 600 Legend Points.
Effect:The Blade can be lengthened to a Short Sword, and shrunk to the size of a Dagger or a Knife at will. Once again, if the blade leaves it's owner's possesion(save for if someone else who has woven a Thread to the blade.) it automatically shrinks back to the size of a knife. Any race of Barsaive can wield the Blade one handed. (Note:if the blade is given to someone with a lesser Thread rank, it will automaticaly shorten to the maximum length their rank thread can yield.)

Key Knowledge:
The wielder must know of another one of the coins, and the name of the first warrior ever to wield the blade.
Deed:The character must find and retrieve the third coin, and put it in one of slots in the handle. The Deed is worth 800 Legend Points
Effect:The Blade can be lengthened to a Broadsword, or shrunk to a knife, or anything in between at will. Any Race of Barsaive can wield the Blade one handed.

Key Knowledge:
The wielder must know of the fourth coin, and the name of the last warrior to wield the Blade before the new threads were attached.
Deed:The character must find and retrieve the fourth coin, and put it in one of the slots in the handle. The Deed is worth 1,300 Legend Points.
Effect:The Blade can now be lengthened to a Two-Handed Sword, or shrunk to the size of a knife at will. Or anything in between the two. Any Race of Barsaive can wield the Blade one handed, no matter what the size of the Blade is. Also at this point a hole for another coin forms in the haft of the Blades handle, and the Oriachulum coin comes into existence.

Key Knowledge:
The Blade can have one Thread attached to it for each coin in the Elemental Blades handle. When a person with a Thread attached to the Blade dies, one of the coin's darken, and the maximum number of threads that can be attached to the Blade decreases by one. When the maximum reaches zero, the Blade loses it's powers. At this point the Oriachulum coin ceases to exist,the four other coins fallout, and the Blade becomes a knife once again. In order for the Blade to ever have magic again, the coins must be returned to wence they came. The fire coin must be tossed back into Death's Sea. The water coin must be tossed back into the Serpent River. The Earth coin into the Badlands, and the Air coin into the sky over the Scytha mountains. Note that they do not have to be returned to the exact same spot, only the specified areas.
The character must know of the Oriachulum coin in the Twilight Peaks. The character must also know of the effects that one who has a Thread to the Blade dying has on the Blade.
Deed:The wielder must travel to the Twilight Peaks, find and Retrieve the Oriachulum coin and place it in the final slot in the Elemental Blade. This Deed is worth 5,500 Legend Points.
Effect:The Blade can now take the shape of any Melee weapon at the wielders will, regardless of size or shape. Any race of Barsaive regardless of size or strength can wield this weapon with one hand.(Provided they have the appropriate thread attached.) (Hmmm, a Windling wielding a Warhammer with one hand, scary, neh?)

I usually do an intresting thing for the Effect of the last four Rank's. For Each rank, one Elemental Power is gained by the blade. Which power is gained is determined by the order the coins were placed in. For instance, if the fire coin were placed first, the fire power would come at Rank six, but if the water coin were placed first the water power would be gained at rank six. For the actual power's I generally just default to the Elemental powers of Kegel's Sword.

Since none of my players have gotten to this rank yet, I haven't developed it. Just give the Blade some Ultra Cool, Ultra Powerful effect to represent the Orichulum
