Designed as a heavy scout, the WVR-7H removes the General Motors Ultra Autocannon and its ammo replaces them with a Defiance Extended Range Partical Projection Cannon, allowing it to survive for extended periods behind enemy lines. The dangerous M.A.S.C. is replaced with Triple Strength Myomer, making the WVR-7H lethal in close combat situations, and increasing it's speed. Since the Autocannon ammunition is gone, the right torso CASE is no longer nescessary. The total weight savings allowed for the 7H's engine to be upgraded from a Nissan 275 XL to the VOX 330 XL. An additional jump jet is added to improve mobility, and a Guardian ECM Suite makes the unit not quite undetectable when hidden. Ammo for the SRM 6, however , remains at a mere 15 salvo's. Pilots cut off from supply lines are advised to use it sparingly.

Notable 'Mechs & MechWarriors:
Captain Jack McCall is the third in command of the Lambert's Lancers Mercenary unit, the commanding officer of 12th Company (1st Battalion, 2nd Company) and by extension the 121st Medium Command lance. McCall displays an aggressive, nearly insane style of combat, and other than the fact that he rely's heavily on his jump jets, is fairly unpredictable in battle. He has successfully performed the famed Death from Above maneuver on at least two separate occasions. In a recent raid on a Jade Falcon occupied world, McCall (Accompinied by a lance of 'Mechs, and a lance of VTOL's at the time) and his men ran into a Nova of Falcon's. Though McCall's Wolverine was scoured almost all it's armor in the engagement, the victory went to the Lancers, though at the end only McCall's 'Mech and a small VTOL were able to leave the field under their own power.

McCall was recently offered a promotion, and command of the Lancer's first Battalion, which he declined due to his low opinion of Majors. Colonel Lambert is still officially in charge of the 1st, until he can figure out a way to get McCall to take the promotion. Meanwhile the other two Captains of the first a referring to McCall as the "First among Equals" and he is taking care of the first's day to day operations as its unofficial commanding officer.

Though there is evidence that the 7H was developed by NAIS, the 7H is seen almost exclusively in the Lancer's. Though it probably exists in the Federated Suns, Lyran Allaince, and St. Ives Compact, it could only exist in very limited numbers, and is probably exclusively assigned to special forces units.
